Minister Lyons approved Newry Mourne and Down District Council’s Outline Business Case (OBC) for the Mourne Mountains Gateway Project on 19 November 2021.

Due to changes that occurred over the passage of time, an update to the OBC was prepared by Council and approved by the Department’s Permanent Secretary on 19 March 2024, following which the Department awarded a contract for funding for the project in May 2024.
